When using     cache:     on google, and clicking on Text-only version, our site has the top menu gibberish on top?

      My feeling is that this take away SEO juice from our title and focus keyword.

          I wouldn't do that just to push keywords closer to the top of the page. What I'd aim for is what's most useful for users - are there a lot of elements in the nav that don't add to user experience? Navigation can help with link equity flow around the site because it's a way to have links from every page to certain other pages, but putting everything in the nav dilutes link equity and can have a negative impact on user experience.

          Essentially, as I say, it's about prioritising the important stuff and being ready to cut the elements that aren't helping.

              That makes sense. What if we were to have only the top level categories and important info on top? Would we be just wasting our time by doing that?

                Forgive me if I'm misinterpreting but if your concern is that your top navigation is pushing things like your H1 further down the page, I wouldn't worry about that. Google understands that web pages have a number of different elements to them and it's very common for a page to have the top navigation above the H1.

                I definitely wouldn't remove the navigation or move it further down the page - it's a key part of the user experience and if the site is difficult to navigate that's likely to have a negative impact on the bottom line, and search ranking as a secondary effect.

                Hope that helps!

                  It’s in the header the navigation will shows up Frist google can understand that part.

                    Question was if this might be the reason why we are not ranking for focus keywords. It's most likely not bad but does that weaken our SEO by having all other text before the focus keyword.

                    Can you please explain more in detail what an absolute url does and why it's supposed to be that way?

                      Adding  " cache:https://www.culinarydepotinc.com/ " to Google shows me your missing some things but no it is not bad one thing I would take your URL's & make them absolute

                      like

href="/Themes/CulinaryDepot/Content/css/owl.carousel.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

                      should be

href="https://www.culinarydepotinc.com/Themes/CulinaryDepot/Content/css/owl.carousel.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

                      Hope that helps,

                        On-page SEO

                        onpage

                        This is a question for the organic SEO experts, once you added the main keyword that you want to rank for in the homepage title, meta title plus meta description, perhaps once or twice in the text on the homepage. How often do you then write it in the content marketing, say blog posts, we want to rank higher on Google for "SEO agencies Cardiff" however if you mention this in the blog posts too much say once a week, this could lead to over optimisation issues?

                        Does Google avoid indexing pages that include registered trademark signs?

                        I am suspecting that Google often hesitates to index pages that have registered trademarks on them that are marked with a ®.   For example EGOL® used in the title tag or in the tag at the top of the page. Registered trademarks are everywhere and most retail product pages contain at least one of them.  However, most people use the registered trademark names as text in their writing without adding the registered trademark sign of ®. Have you experienced a problem getting such pages indexed or have you read any articles about how Google treats registered trademarks?

                        Will it upset Google if I aggregate product page reviews up into a product category page?

                        We have reviews on our product pages and we are considering averaging those reviews out and putting them on specific category pages in order for the average product ratings to be displayed in search results. Each averaged category review would be only for the products within it's category, and all reviews are from users of the site, no 3rd party reviews. For example, averaging the reviews from all of our boxes products pages, and listing that average review on the boxes category page. My question is, will this be doing anything wrong in the eyes of Google, and if so how so? -Derick

                        New site pages are indexed but not ranking for anything

                        I just built this site for a client http://primedraftarchitecture.com.  It went live 3 weeks ago and the pages are getting indexed as per Webmaster Tools.  But I'm not seeing it rank for anything. We're adding blog articles regularly and used Moz Local for local links and have been building links in other local directories (probably about 15 so far). Usually I get some rankings, although very low, after just a week or two for new sites. Does anyone see anything glaring that may be causing a problem?

                        Schema: Multiple Locations on a Single Page

                        Can adding multiple locations on a single page be confusing to Google? Is using "LocalBusiness" with "branchof" the proper way of doing this? Does anyone know of any resources that go into this type of thing in more detail? I've read everything Google, Schema and SeoMoz seem to have on this topic. Thanks.

                        Missing meta descriptions on indexed pages, portfolio, tags, author and archive pages. I am using SEO all in one, any advice?

                        I am having a few problems that I can't seem to work out.....I am fairly new to this and can't seem to work out the following: Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙂 1. I am missing alot of meta description tags. I have installed "All in One SEO" but there seems to be no options to add meta descriptions in portfolio posts. I have also written meta descriptions for 'tags' and whilst I can see them in WP they don't seem to be activated. 2. The blog has pages indexed by WP- called Part 2 (/page/2), Part 3 (/page/3) etc. How do I solve this issue of meta descriptions and indexed pages? 3. There is also a page for myself, the author, that has multiple indexes for all the blog posts I have written, and I can't edit these archives to add meta descriptions. This also applies to the month archives for the blog. 4. Also, SEOmoz tells me that I have too many links on my blog page (also indexed) and their consequent tags. This also applies to the author pages (myself ). How do I fix this? Thanks for your help 🙂 Regards Nadia

                        301 redirects from several sub-pages to one sub-page

                        Hi! I have 14 sub-pages i deleted earlier today. But ofcourse Google can still find them, and gives everyone that gives them a go a 404 error. I have come to the understading that this wil hurt the rest of my site, at least as long as Google have them indexed. These sub-pages lies in 3 different folders, and i want to redirect them to a sub-page in a folder number 4. I have already an htaccess file, but i just simply cant get it to work! It is the same file as i use for redirecting trafic from mydomain.no to www.mydomain.no, and i have tried every kind of variation i can think of with the sub-pages. Has anyone perhaps had the same problem before, or for any other reason has the solution, and can help me with how to compose the htaccess file? 🙂 You have to excuse me if i'm using the wrong terms, missing something i should have seen under water while wearing a blindfold, or i am misspelling anything. I am neither very experienced with anything surrounding seo or anything else that has with internet to do, nor am i from an englishspeaking country. Hope someone here can light up my path 🙂 Thats at least something you can say in norwegian...

                        Do we need to use the canonical tag on non-indexed pages?

                        Hi there I have been working in / learning SEO for just over a year, coming from a non dev background, so there are still plenty of the finer points on-page points I am working on. Slowly building up confidence and knowledge with the great SEOMoz as a reference! We are working on this site http://www.preciseuk.co.uk (we are still tweaking the tags and content by the way- not finished yet!) Because a lot of the information is within accordians, a page is generated for each tab of the accordian expanded, for example: http://www.preciseuk.co.uk/facilities-management.php is the main page but then you also have: http://www.preciseuk.co.uk/facilities-management.php?tab=0 http://www.preciseuk.co.uk/facilities-management.php?tab=1 http://www.preciseuk.co.uk/facilities-management.php?tab=2 http://www.preciseuk.co.uk/facilities-management.php?tab=3 http://www.preciseuk.co.uk/facilities-management.php?tab=4 http://www.preciseuk.co.uk/facilities-management.php?tab=5 All of which are in the same file. According to the crawl test, these pages are not indexed. Because it is all in one file, should we add the canonical tag to it, so that this is replicated in all the tab pages that are generated? eg. Thanks in advance for your help! Liz OneResult
