How can I Style Long "List Posts" in Wordpress?
-
Hi All,
I have been working on a list-post which spans over 100 items. Each item on the list has a quick blurb to explain it, an image and a few resource links.
I am trying to find an attractive way to present this long list post in Wordpress.
I have seen several sites with long list posts however; they place their items one on top of the other which yields a VERY long page and the end user has to do a lot of scrolling. Others turn their lists into slideshows, but I have no data on how slides perform against 10-mile-long-lists which load in 1 page.
I would like to do something similar to what List25.com does as they present about 5-10 items per page and they seem to have pagination.
The pagination part I understand however; is there a shortcode plugin to format lists in an attractive way just like list25?

Cool, you bet - thanks for following up and letting us know it worked out

Thank you Dan! I tried both and shortcodes-ultimate has heading styles that come very close to what I am trying to accomplish.
Shortcodes-ultimate coupled with some css styling for my tag helped me accomplish my goal. I just created a dummy-post in list format and the content looks great!
Thanks Again!

I am not aware of a plugin that does this thing exactly. You may want to look into general shortcode plugins that have a whole variety of shortcodes and maybe within them you will find something that does what you are looking for - I wouls start with these;

Hi, Ivan,
I believe there's no built-in shortcodes to display posts like list25.com, unless they're hosted in wordpress.com (http://en.support.wordpress.com/display-posts-shortcode/), or use plugin like "Display Posts Shortcode": http://wordpress.org/plugins/display-posts-shortcode/.
And no matter what a shortcode can do, you still need to customize the CSS to make it go with your theme.
Good luck!

Thank you for the input Yoren.c
I suspected list25.com was using something custom in their loop; however, is that some sort of shortcode?
If possible I'd like to find something I could use to style my lists in an attractive way (like a shortcode) without having to play too much with loop/css customization, although I am willing to go that extra mile if that's what it takes.

Hi, Ivan,
Based on my knowledge about WordPress, I think List25.com just use standard loop for the posts, and style the first one different from others.
As to the post lists on left or right sidebar, you could use plugin like "WordPress Popular Posts": http://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-popular-posts/ or "Ultimate Posts Widget": http://wordpress.org/plugins/ultimate-posts-widget/ to accomplish.

How do I "undo" or remove a Google Search Console change of address?
I have a client that set a change of address in Google Search Console where they informed Google that their preferred domain was a subdomain, and now they want Google to also consider their base domain (without the change of address). How do I get the change of address in Google search console removed?

Staging site and "live" site have both been indexed by Google
While creating a site we forgot to password protect the staging site while it was being built. Now that the site has been moved to the new domain, it has come to my attention that both the staging site (site.staging.com) and the "live" site (site.com) are both being indexed. What is the best way to solve this problem? I was thinking about adding a 301 redirect from the staging site to the live site via HTACCESS. Any recommendations?

"Fourth-level" subdomains. Any negative impact compared with regular "third-level" subdomains?
Hey moz New client has a site that uses: subdomains ("third-level" stuff like location.business.com) and; "fourth-level" subdomains (location.parent.business.com) Are these fourth-level addresses at risk of being treated differently than the other subdomains? Screaming Frog, for example, doesn't return these fourth-level addresses when doing a crawl for business.com except in the External tab. But maybe I'm just configuring the crawls incorrectly. These addresses rank, but I'm worried that we're losing some link juice along the way. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Where does Wordpress store the 301 redirects?
Hi, I've just created a campaign for my new wordpress blog and found 11 301 redirects which I was not aware of. It looks like wordpress has created them automatically. Does any one know how wordpress handles this issues or where are they stored so I can delete them? They are of no use for me. 9 of these redirects point to the same url with an added '/' and are in pages 1 is on a post. I've been changing the permalink and some urls several times and maybe one of these times the Wordpress has automatically created the 301 redirect. But why? I do not want to keep the old url. the last redirect is very strange it goes from http://www.mydomain.com/folder to http://www.mydomain.com where folder is the folder where I installed wordpress. But again, I want no one to type the url with the folder name or even know this folder exists. Any comment on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot, David

How is a dash or "-" handled by Google search?
I am targeting the keyword AK-47 and it the variants in search (AK47, AK-47, AK 47) . How should I handle on page SEO? Right now I have AK47 and AK-47 incorporated. So my questions is really do I need to account for the space or is Google handling a dash as a space? At a quick glance of the top 10 it seems the dash is handled as a space, but I just wanted to get a conformation from people much smarter then I at seomoz. Thanks, Jason

301 Redirect "wildcard" question
I have been looking at the SEOmoz redirect guide for some advice but I can't seem to find the answer : http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/redirection I have lots of URLs from a previous version of a site that look like the following: sitename.com/-c-25.html?sort=2d&page=1 sitename.com/-c-25.html?sort=3a&page=1 etc etc. I want to write a redirect so whenever a URL with the terms "-c-25.html" is requested it redirects to a specified page, regardless of what comes after the question mark. These URLs were created by our previous ecommerce software. The 'c' is for category, and each page of the cateogry created a different URL. I want to do these so I can rediect all of these URLs to the appropraite new cateogry page in a single redirect. Thanks for any help.
