I just created my first press release at prlog.org using the free account, which lets you have one outgoing followed link.

Question:  Should I link to my press releases from my web site?  I made the mistake of doing link exchanges in the past, and worried Google would detect it as a link exchange.  It would be nice to link to the press releases on my site while still getting the benefits of having an incoming link from a site with PR 6.

Is prlog.org a good site for press releases?  Is there another one you recommend that is free or inexpensive?  Is there any benefits to using multiple press release sites, with different content on each site?

      Thanks!!!

Cameron, I link to my press releases from other navigation than the home page mainly because I believe the content on the home page is to get the visitor interested to go deeper into the site. I don't think it's bad to link to them from the home page but I think you will see the value of the link isn't that much greater than linking to it from a subsequent page.

Cameron, I always recommend businesses link to their press releases. Doing so provides value in different ways. First, if there are no links and no references to it, it basically has no value, Second, you get a little bit of third party validation from it. Third, you can get visitors from it and brand recognition. I know of releases that we published in 2005 that still get hundreds or thousands of visitors each month, because they have incoming links. Don't base all your decisions on what immediate link juice you might get from an action you take, because it may hurt you some time in the future. And yes, prlog is good. I have some I will send there this week.

Thanks for the reply.  Has some very good info on press releases.    My only question is, is it a good idea for me to link to the press releases on my home page? Is it standard for businesses to link to the press releases, or do they just let clients find the press releases on Google.

            Thanks again.

Hi Cameron, A press release will help your website gain awareness in your industry. It is a fantastic way to announce a grand opening of a new business, a large sale or promotion, a unique tool, feature, movie file, content or other resource.

Submitting the press release help the social media for business online press release distribution and social networking are powerful marketing tools but combined they are an unstoppable force for instant online exposure.

For more details see the below advantages of press release:

Advantages: They are a fast, free, easy, way to get your message and your company name all over the internet. Some of them are fairly high page rank which passes along some good link juice. I've gotten my clients 6 of the top 10 Google listings on the front page of google, for the keywords we selected, using free press release sites. (There's never a guarantee of this, of course; Google does what Google wants.)

Yes prlog.org is good site for press release. For more details for the press release websites see the link below:

                Should I disavow these links?

                backlinks toxicbacklinks audit backlinkaudit disavow

Hi all, I have a ski website that I am currently performing a toxic backlink audit on. I have noted that a lot of the links being flagged as toxic/spammy by the tool I am using seem to be the same/similar sites with different URLs. The sites are vaguely related to skiing (relating to helicopter travel options for travelling to ski resorts) but it is concerning me that there are so many of them and they are being flagged as so toxic.
Do you think it is worth disavowing these? Or contacting the owner to ask them to remove the link? I have included an example of some of the links below. https://www.cannes-helicopters.co.uk/index.php?menuopen=21&showcontent=5
                https://nice-helicopter.co.uk/index.php?menuopen=21&showcontent=5
https://monaco-helicopter.co.uk/index.php?menuopen=21&showcontent=5 Slightly different site but same favicon icon:
                https://monaco-helicopter.co.uk/index.php?menuopen=21&showcontent=5
https://www.whitetracks-holidays.com/Helicopter_Transfers_Villars_Switzerland.htm Thanks in advance for any advice / help!

When conducting a link building strategy does it matter the country the link is from?

We are a UK business and if we have links mostly from US based blogs and websites does this penalise us.  The links are from relevant websites and topics.  Should we be focusing on .co.uk sites

                Nasty links

Hi My first q on here (hoorah!), and it's about links (boo!). I've got what appears to be a handful (but worryingly, increasing in number) of links pointing to my site like this: http://condos.mrgulffront.com/florida-condos-for-sale/320-scenic-gulf-drive-miramar-beach-fl-32550-mls-567591/ I've made contact with the sites concerned, and had only one positive response who flatly denied all knowledge of it. The issue (as far as I can see) is that as in the above example the links (on the bottom right in the grey box) are forever changing so not always visible. Can anyone offer any guidance as to these kinds of nasty links.... I'm right at the v beginning on this "path of seo understanding" so please don't assume prior knowledge! Thanks in advance.... tom

Backlinks From Press Releases - Should I Disavow Them?

About 2 months ago, I published a press release through PRWEB with a link back to my website of course. Now it must have been one of those morning where the coffee wasn't strong enough as my website already has a Penguin penalty I'm trying to get lifted. The intent wasn't to spam the web but rather to gain some traction in the business hosting world. Like I've said, the coffee must've been too weak that morning as it didn't even cross my mind to see if I could "nofollow" the links in the press release. I just hit the submit button... As I'm in the process of submitting a disavow links request to Google, I'm wondering if I should include the URLs to copies of those press releases? I mean, there's no way I can find all those links as it was submitted not long ago. Google and link tools will keep discovering other copies of the PR for months to come probably.

A link with "return false"- OSE sees as a No Followed Link

Hello, I couldn't find a clear answer to the impact on SEO for a link written in this way: [" class="expert_info" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">](w</span>ww.yourwebsite.com<span style=) [Does the "return false" act as a "no follow"? I came across this in our link data in Open Site Explorer which lists these links all as "no follows." However, an engineer I spoke to said that it shouldn't impact search engine behavior. Any ideas? Thank you in advance! -Sarah K.](w</span>ww.yourwebsite.com<span style=)

                Text Link vs image link?

Which passes most link juice a text link or an image with the correct 'alt' attribute? Do the pass the same amount or is one more valuable than the other?

I remember hearing in one of the link building webinars that if you hold a patent then you could get a link from that somehow.

Any examples or suggestions as to how this is done?

Does google scrape links from PDF files? do these links pass link juice?

Title is pretty much the whole question.
